Post Doctoral Fellowships
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center for Health Policy (RWJF Center) at the University of New Mexico (UNM) invites scholars who have a background and/or interest in health services research or policy analysis associated with Latinos, American Indians and other underrepresented groups in theUnited States to apply for one of the RWJF Post Doctoral Research Awards.
Each of two twelve-month RWJF Center awards include a stipend of $51,750 plus health insurance. Successful applicants must be approved by one of the UNM social science departments affiliated with the RWJF Center and may be eligible for up to two years of funding. Applicants should have a research agenda that demonstrates a focus on the mission of the RWJF Center (http://healthpolicy.unm.edu).
ELIGIBILITY
These awards are limited to applicants who are eligible to work in the United States and have not received their highest academic degree from the University of New Mexico. Minimum qualification is a doctoral degree
in a relevant social science discipline (awarded by the date of application). Preferences will be given to applicants with degrees from the departments of economics, political science or sociology and demonstrated interest or experience in health disparity research.
ABOUT THE RWJF CENTER
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center for Health Policy at the University of New Mexico is the only health policy center dedicated to increasing the number of leaders from Latino and American Indian communities who will help shape the future of our nation’s health care and health policy. A collaboration between the University of New Mexico and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the RWJF Center for Health Policy focuses on inserting the perspectives of Latino, American Indian and other underrepresented groups into the most pressing health policy debates.
APPLICATIONS SHOULD INCLUDE:
- a cover letter;
- a current CV;
- a brief research agenda (maximum 2 pages) describing how the applicant's current and projected research initiatives align with the mission of the Center;
- two letters of reference including one from the department chair at the applicant's home institution; and
- a letter of support from a UNM social science faculty member in the department with which the applicant wishes to affiliate.
All applications will be sent to the appropriate UNM department for review and approval, and departments may request additional documents before final approval.
